Bug Description

Hi...

When I try to move an application from Slingshot to dock the system seems to logout immediatly (probably crash on X server, don't know exactly).

If I try just to move an application like: click into calculator, hold it and move... voi là... the Gala closes and login window come again.

My Elementary OS is: http://s4.postimage.org/bwal0lawd/Screenshot_from_2013_02_13_22_25_06.png

Also, I follow the steps of this tutorial: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1930450
but with this drivers package amd-driver-installer-catalyst-13.1-linux-x86.x86_64.run (more actual).

Using this drivers my system got 10 celsius degrees lower then using Elementary OS default driver (I have an hybrid Intel HD3000/Radeon 6470m).

Virtu, I'm don't anything related to drivers very well, but I seem to remember we had big problems with fglrx. Could you please try other drivers and report whether the bug's still happening?

Hi =)
I loaded the integrated GPU with this command:
sudo aticonfig --px-igpu # Activate integrated GPU (Power-Saving mode), must re-start X to take effect

Restarted the system and try to move an application Slingshot and no X crash.

I loaded the dedicated GPU (sudo aticonfig --px-dgpu # Activate discrete GPU (High-Performance mode), must re-start X to take effect).

Restarted the system and try the same move... X killed.

This is a proprietary driver problem. Try the newer drivers from the AMD website if you're card is supported. Unfortunately, we can't do anything about this either way.

Hi all, dont quite understand that answer about the proprietary driver problem. I used fglrx-experimental-13 wich gives better perfomance in steam games (almos 7600 glxgears) in ubuntu 12.04 , ubuntu remix 12.04 and I dont have anyking of problem, but if I use in elementary i have the same drag app xcrash.
