Bug Description

Binary package hint: gs-common

In Ubuntu Feisty Fawn Nautilus has a preview for EPS-figures.

Nautilus and many other programs such as Evince, Lyx, etc. use gs to convert these figures.

After the dist-upgrade gs results in a very high hard disk use/load that it effectily blocks the hard disk and any other system activity. The user has no other option than reboot.

A workaround is:

1) start galternatives
2) select gs in the right pane
3) choose gs-gpl instead of gs-esp as a default
=> now it works well.

I mark this as a security issue since I had do a forced reboot via text terminal to access my computer again due to the high hard disk load cause by the misconfiguration.
Note that in edgy eft all worked well!

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing privilege boundaries to be crossed nor directly leading to data/privacy loss. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.
