gnome problem

i just downloaded ubuntu from ur site and installed it. gnome wont start. plz help

That's a very general problem. You might want to look and ask around at
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=5 to see whether other users
encountered the same problem. It might for example be related to support of your
videocard, see http://www.ubuntulinux.org/wiki/HardwareSupportComponentsVideoCards

i downloaded http://releases.ubuntu.com/warty/warty-release-install-i386.iso and
burned it(obviously). Installed it. and then the x-server/gnome didnt start. it
didnt give me any specific msg of whats wrong
