Bug Description
I was trying to help a friend (trying Ubuntu for the first time) install Adobe Acrobat Reader since he needs to view a PDF which needs javascript support. To make sure it'd work for him I was first doing this on my machine (12.04). It didn't show in my software centre so I went to edit -> software sources and enabled "Canonical Partners" (where I believe it lives). It still didn't appear in searches even after restarting the software centre. There was no offer to update the package database.
I was determined to do this without the command line so I installed synaptic from the software centre and searched that for acroread -- it appears. I then opened software centre again and now it does appear in searches.
Seems like a bug -- when enabling new software sources it should really do an update.
