Bug Description

Using Mint 14, Cinnamon 64-bit

Just wanted to access the Windows Network folder, short break then nemo window closes, guess i can call it crash, although no crash info came up.

I can reproduce it now the whole time. System is set up freshly, only that I did -w/o knowing it better- a dist-upgrade.

After a halt of the system doing installs of packages, I had to restart and that problem was not reproduceable anymore.

So, maybe, if noone else is found this can be deleted?

Hi Daniel,

I am seeing a nemo crash on linux mint 15 cinnamon, 64 bit. It started happening when browsing files on my kindle, plugged into a usb port. I'm not sure if it's the same bug or some other effect.

I'm seeing this problem on multiple 64-bit machines on the same LAN, running Ubuntu Studio 13.10 and Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 (installed when in alpha), continually kept updated. I had tried Mint 14 and loved Nemo, taking it with me when I went back to other Ubuntu flavors.

The LAN configuration is cable modem --> dd-wrt router 1 --> dd-wrt router 2, with the routers bridged by wire. The problem is the same no matter which router any of the machines is connected to, wirelessly or wired.

If I click the "Network" bookmark in the file manager, I see the "Windows Network" icon alongside icons for the machines on the LAN, which I can use just fine as Samba shares. Attempting to open the "Windows Network" via that icon causes the Nemo window to disappear, often after a short pause.

I am on Mint 17 x64 and my router is a Netgear AC1450 running DD-WRT and 2 other Windows 7 computers are connected and sharing to the network. When I click on Windows Network or type smb:/// into the address bar of Nemo, Nemo complete crashes with no error messages.

Can't believe it was reported a year and a half ago and still hasn't been fixed or looked at. What is going on here??

I have been experiencing Nemo crashing when opening or closing file folders through 2 versions of Mint, or nearly 1.5 years. I have also reported it before, but it is still not fixed. The last few days, I have rearranging files, deleting old files and folders, and consolidating files on drives. Housekeeping, in other words. Nemo has been crashing every few minutes.
Nemo also crashes when fixing the "Thumbnail Cache" error after moving files.

I have 2 built-in drives, and today I have 5 external hard drives attached, for a total of 19 TB of hard drive space. All of the hard drives attached are Seagate drives. 1 internal drive is a Toshiba drive, and 1 is an Hitachi drive. This was happening even before installing the Hitachi drive, and when no external drives were attached.

It has been suggested that this is related to my NVIDIA graphics card, it was suggested that I switch drivers. But my current driver has proven to be the only driver which works. The current driver is the nvidia-375, recommended driver. I have the GeForce GE 610 card. I have attached a screenshot of my graphics card settings.

I will post part of the system log in next message.

Today, nemo has been crashing every few minutes while opening folders and moving files around.

Thanks,
Lloyd

After another crash later on June 10, 2017. I copied the SYSlog, Xorg.0.log, and dpkg.log into an .odt file. Uploading it here.

Also noticed that the background in the desktop often reverts back to the default Mint desktop background.
