I get this commonly after a few days of use with anything that touches the ati drivers, most notably using secondlife firestorm client that makes heavy use of the gpu. I begin to get numerous kinds of errors from laggy graphics to crashing with various errors like these. Eventually it'll destabilize to the point it'll hard lock my system and I start seeing various errors like this in console. This has happened since 11.04 to 13.04 with any ati driver (early 12.x through 13.8 with quantal), on any version of kernel on those distros.

My environment is a bit unique that I run 6 displays at 11520x1200 as well. Compiz can't composite on multi-mon setups, nvidia or ati, without coming unglued without unredirection, ultimately destabilizing my system in various forms of multi-monitor since 8.04. I get all kinds of visual corruption and odd app behavior that is using glx without fail.

Here's hoping for Weston/Mir to not suck.
