LibreOffice freezes indefinitely when opening attached PDF

I tried opening the attached PDF with LibreOffice but LibreOffice just freezes and has to be force-killed.

I get the same problem with this PDF on LibreOffice 4.0 RC1 on Windows 7 64-bit.

This is still occurring on Ubuntu 16.04 "Xenial Xerus" with libreoffice 1:5.1.4-0ubuntu1.
Evince and Firefox 49 can open the file without any issues.
