depends on apache, but requires nfs or smb?

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-user-share

When I install gnome-user-share, I get a pile of apache thrown in, but then when I right-click to share a folder, I get told that I need to install nfs or smb. AFAIK none of these three things are interrelated- so the package should probably stop depending on apache, and instead depend on either nfs or smb.

Neither nfs nor smb.

Look at /usr/share/doc/gnome-user-share/README to understand how it works.
I haven't tested it yet.

Reopened.

The application did not work, and the application (not docs that no one should have to read) told me it needed those things. If it doesn't need those things, then this bug needs to be retitled to 'gnome-user-share fails, and lies to users about why it fails', but either way, it is broken and needs to be fixed.

I think you don't make the difference between gnome-suer-sharing and the ability of sharing folder through nfs or smb.

To use gnome-user-sharing just do that :
$ sudo apt-get install gnome-user-share
$ /usr/lib/gnome-user-share/gnome-user-share-session &
Open network:/// on nautilus and look at {you}'s public files on {yourcomputer}
This is the dav:// sharing provided by gnome-suer-sharing (not nfs or smb)

You don't hate to launch /usr/lib/gnome-user-share/gnome-user-share-session by hand : you just can restart your gnome session.

Nothing is broken.

Hey Luis,

I think you confuse between gnome-user-share (which is a separate application) and the capplet shares-admin.

I close this bug as invalid
