Bug Description

I accidentally removed my Desktop directory. The the desktop on the screen shows the content of my home directory. That is a very good fall-back.

However, after restoring me Desktop directory, the desktop on my screen still shows my home directory and the Desktop directory is not recognised by nautilus and other applications as my Desktop directory. The icon is now identical to a normal directory or folder and is not the purple square desktop icon.

How can I restore this manually. This is also a bug and can it be fixed so that it is restored automatically?
