Laptop fails to suspend after kernel upgrade

With following kernel versions, my laptop does not suspend anymore.
When I press suspend, the screen turns black but the laptop still runs and the fan is still going. Closing and opening the lid brings the system back.

These kernels have the problem:

linux-image-3.2.0-34-generic-pae
linux-image-3.2.0-35-generic-pae
linux-image-3.2.0-36-generic-pae

This was the latest version where suspend worked well:

linux-image-3.2.0-33-generic-pae

So for now, I still use linux-image-3.2.0-33-generic-pae. That means less secure.

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS on a Lenovo W500 laptop with a ATI Radeon HD3635 card.
