Bug Description

I miss the reconciliation workflow feature I was used to from another major home financial tracking software package, would love to see this feature in HomeBank.

Suggested Workflow:
-Select account, choose Reconcile.
-Window opens with the remembered last statement date and balance for the account plus a list of any transactions entered since that date
-User enters any interest or fees showing on the latest/current account statement, plus the ending date and balance from that statement into provided data fields
-User clicks on transactions listed as they are validated against the statement, toggles "validated" status
-A "difference" amount is displayed for the delta between the (sum of the prior balance, validated transactions and entered interest and fees) and the current entered statement ending balance
-Transactions could be added, edited or deleted as required from the list as the user reviews their statement
-A properly reconciled account would have a "difference" amount of zero (0). When reached, user could click to close the reconciliation window, store the fee and interest entries as transactions and update the remembered "last statement date" and balance to the entered statement ending date and balance.

Thanks for your consideration.

BTW, I'm using HomeBank 4.4 on Linux Mint Debian Edition.

I REALLY like Homebank and am happy using it but it does really miss this feature. It would make a great product even better.

I, too, really miss this feature. I'm sure it is not trivial but would be a great addion to this great program.

Hello,

In addition to this wish posted by DonV, could it be possible to allow to reconcile the operations with the space bar (or another keyboard shortcut that could be parameted by the user) instead of typing the pointing button at the bottom of the window.
That would allow to work on the reconciliation without having to move the mouse from the operation line to the pointing button each time you reconcile : you select the operation, you click on the choosen keyboard shortcut to reconcile.

Many thanks

So far the process describe into the documentation can be achieved without a dedicated window for that: http://homebank.free.fr/help/use-reconcile.html
I don't see what is needed additional to this.

@Pascal: there is already existing shortcuts
look at the transaction > Status submenu
space bar is already a gtk standard shortcut

After having reconciled more than 600 operations on 4 accounts, i agree that, at least in the 7.5.1 version, there is no need for other tool ?!

The guide designed by Maxime above seems to work fine: on one side I had Homebank, on the other side my account mensual bill,

At first, I check the amount of the account at the beginning of the bill, I check one by one all operations from my bill, and at the end I validate that my amount is still the same as the final bill's amount.

What is still missing ?

Came back to this after email notification of comment #8 and the status change (new?). Now that the guide in comment #7 exists the method described works and I've been doing essentially that in the interim. I believe that guide utilizes other changes since this wish was opened, which provide for the all-in-one view, filtering and management of *all* transactions' details and status for a given account, broader than just statement reconciling. As such, I support closing this request.
