Bug Description

magick-rotation runs perfectly when started manually but the auto-start wasn't working on gnome-shell.

Solution: edit the file ~/.config/autostart/magick-rotation.desktop to add the line 'StartupNotify=false'

Did your auto-start file: gksudo gedit ~/.local/share/applications/magick-rotation.desktop contain the following line?
    X-GNOME-Autostart-Delay=3
That was added as a work around for autostart not appearing in gnome-shell versions >= 3.4. There was a queing bug.
