Bug Description

OS: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

Today Ubuntu installed a bunch of updates.

Subsequently, if a connection is established using Remina in full screen mode the application cannot be minimized.

Replication steps:

. Launch Remmina.
. Connect to a remote desktop session using RDP protocol.
. Move the mouse pointer to the top center of the display to drop down the toolbar.
. Click the minimize button.

The "minimize window" animation is displayed but the screen does not change.

Remmina is now in a broken state. It can neither be interacted with nor can it be closed, minimized or otherwise manipulated.

Workaround: Alt-tab displays the desktop.

I've reassigned the bug to the remmina source package, which contains the software this bug is about.

Can you please do this command in the terminal, so you can gather and attach additional data about the package and your system that may be helpful for triaging/fixing: apport-collect 1097969

I could but I've switched to xmonad so my output would be irrelevant.

The productivity problems caused by Unity are too great and the resource consumption for an application whose job is simply to manage windows cannot be excused.

The inability to configure the window manager to suit my needs is also a red flag.

In terms of hateful user experience Ubuntu is starting to look a lot like another very popular operating system.

It is not hard to see, between the current LTS release, and the beta release, how Ubuntu is being reworked into a consumption platform designed to drive dollars into Jane Silber's pocketbook.

Once Ubuntu begins working around the Apt package manager to prevent users from removing things like the Amazon integration there will begin a significant decline in developer support.

Same issue here with Remmina. Full screen mode works, but minimising loses the window. The only way to restore functionality is to end the process and re-connect.
Similarly if you run the remote session in a windowed mode subsequently attempting to return to full screen will simply create a large window with the top bar still visible. Minimising from here will crash the application.

Same issue here. I have to exit from full screen before minimize.

Same thing here. This is a very annoying bug. Once you have minimized it, you cannot re-connect, unless you kill the process and relaunch it.
