Bug Description

Parameter ldap_force_canonical_email is unknown in /etc/sympa/wwsympa.conf

This parameter was dropped in recent sympa versions.

see also http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=638320

this is sympa 6.1.7~dfsg-2 on precise (12.04 LTS)

is causes the sympa process not to start

[Update -- SRU candidate]
[Impact]
The sympa package won't install on a freshly installed LTS release.

[Test Case]
Install a fresh Precise 12.04 LTS.
sudo apt-get install sympa

[Regression Potential]
That would mean backporting a change from upstream.
Any regression it could bring can't be worst than the package not installing at all.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug has been fixed in the latest development version of Ubuntu - Raring Ringtail.

This is a significant bug in Ubuntu. If you need a fix for the bug in previous versions of Ubuntu, please do steps 1 and 2 of the SRU Procedure [1] to bring the need to a developer's attention.
