Bug Description

Sound system stopped working. Previously it had been working for about two months.
It does not work with an analog sound system and also with a head-set.

it is strange that only headphone playback switch but no headphone playback volume

I had a similar or identical problem in Oct2012, see:

At that time the problem went away after playing with various configurations, but I could not really understand how.

Apparently I have solved the problem doing this

 sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev
 sudo apt-get update
 sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
