Bug Description

I've spent 30 minutes selecting songs from my library and putting them into the play list. These songs were meant to last the whole evening, but of course the order in which I have selected them is NOT the order in which they should play. Of course I have selected all songs of one album one after the other, bit OF COURSE this is not the order I want them to play.
No problem, one should think, I've got one of the most advanced pieces of software to play this play list. Let's just elect "shuffle". It's a feature every software player has.
-- Well, not banshee. There's no F*CKing way to shuffle the play queue. WHY? WHY THE HELL is banshee lacking this basic feature? EVERY queue offered by a software player is expected to have the feature "shuffle". Banshee's play queue does not have this feature. I can't get it. Is this a joke? Well, if you really do NOT want people to use banshee, go ahead. I simply don't get what you are up for. But I will chose another player for my next party. Banshee just let me down.

It sounds like you are misunderstanding the purpose of the play queue. The play
_queue_ is a queue. First in, first out. It is meant to be a place to dump songs
for playback *in* *order*, after the current song in the current playlist, and
before the next song in the current playlist, i.e. it temporarily disrupts the
current playlist until it is exhausted. For the record, this is how Rhythmbox's
play queue works as well, and this is the way play _queues_ are supposed to work
in any player, if even implemented in the first place.

If you want to select a list of songs to be played, potentially more than once,
out of order, then you want a _PLAYLIST_, and this can be shuffled by selecting
one of the shuffle options in the dropdown menu that comes from clicking the
arrow next to the Next icon.

I'm closing this bug.
