Allow user to override or remove crashkernel settings with trivial edit in /etc/default/grub.

That's a good idea.
At the moment kdump reserves 128M of memory which I'd rather keep.

This release of Ubuntu is no longer receiving maintenance updates. If this is still an issue on a maintained version of Ubuntu please let us know.
