Bug Description

Shotwell crashes ever time I try to auto import or import from /pictures on Ubuntu 12.10 64bit. Per instructions I ran gdb. The terminal results of that are below. I have also attached suggested files. Thanks.

$ SHOTWELL_LOG=1 gdb shotwell 2>&1 | tee shotwell.gdb

This was reported earlier in bug #990947 and is ticketed upstream at our Redmine server: http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/5252

This crash is due to a bug in GStreamer. A developer has reported that the development version of GStreamer fixes this bug. We haven't verified this yet.

I had a similar segfault during import

I fixed the problem by installing gstreamer 1.6 from here
https://launchpad.net/~dan-witt/+archive/ubuntu/gstreamer

and gstreamer1.0-libav 1.59 from here
https://launchpad.net/~ricotz/+archive/ubuntu/experimental
