Bug Description

My machine can install Mint 13 Cinnamon from the iso usb install "CD", but not Mint 14.1. The machine stops while trying to start X11, and complains that xconf.org isn't set up correctly. It then offers to show the error msgs, which turn out to be unhelpful (simply a description of the kernel version and X11 version), and then drops into console mode. In Mint 13, X11 came up, though in low graphics mode (800 x 600?) and I was able to complete the installation, and then install the 3.6.5 kernel, which apparently is built with cedarview graphics drivers, and allows full screen resolution. The machine is an Asus x101ch, which uses intel gma 3600 graphics. I think that Linux MInt 13 must have used the gma 500 graphics driver, but 14.1 doesn't seem to include it, or a workable alternative (like a kernel with the driver built in. Is there at least a workaround? I tried the install a number of times and it was blocked every time by this problem (the lack of X11). I suppose you'd need a machine with this chipset to duplicate the problem.

I have just added a bug with intel sandy bridge graphics sounds similar but not the same. You could try adding an external monitor. However I failed to get it working and am currently going back to Mint 13.
