after most recent update PINE will no longer send mail

Kubuntu 12.4 Pine 4.60
updated 3 day ago.
PINE was working fine until update
can recieve email normally
can compose new or response email normally
when hitting send it "appears" to send the email getting all the correct indications
but mail vanishes.
I have checked all the settings, nothing has been changed
I have sent test emails to myself and my other accounts, never recieve them.
still get emails from my firefox mailer
get emails from all groups I am on.

but nothing is actually sent, it vanishes.
apport senses nothing wrong.

added information.
telenet to a shell account use thier pine.
works correctly on a non updated computer. (was about to update it)
I can still get and send e-mail via other packages.

PS with the lauchpad linked to the affected account it has taken days (and three computers) to actually get this sent.

Not a problem of the terminal emulator

not unless the last update 3 days ago broke it.. ???
get messages normally and it "pretends" to send them. just never arrive at other end.

works fine with another computer logged into same modem using older version Ubuntu.

ok deffinately a problem in konsole.
just used xterm to access the same host and e-mail account
and a test message went right thru.

not sure this is using pine via konsole.
pull up konsole
telenet to email host.
use their pine to access the shell account

so is : Kubuntu - konsole - telenet - pine

has worked until last update,
works on computer not updated
works using xterm

and everything works but actually sending mail.
