Bug Description

While Gedit application is open, switch to another application which allows mouse wheel scrolling, such as Chromium web browser, or Firefox, or LibreOffice Writer. Use mouse wheel to scroll up or down in the web browser. Switch back to Gedit and nudge the mouse wheel slightly. The Gedit window seems to be saving all mouse wheel scrolling commands from the mouse wheel while in Chromium and applying them to the Gedit window, causing the scrolling to jump to the wrong location in the document. If I scroll up in Chromium, then switch to Gedit and scroll down in Gedit, it will instead scroll up by the same amount that I scrolled up in Chromium. Gedit ignores the command from the mouse wheel and applies the scroll activity from the previous window instead. This bug does not seem to be affecting other applications which uses mouse scrolling. Chromium, Firefox, and LibreOffice Writer all work fine and do not jump. Only Gedit jumps to the wrong location on returning to the window and nudging the mouse wheel slightly.

I have exactly the same issue on Ubuntu 12.10 with both gedit and latexila (based on gedit).

I have the same issue. its so annoying trying to figure out where in the long document I was editing at after coming back to the gedit window. I couldn't figure out what caused the jumpy scrolling, I just thought it was random. thanks for making it clear.

I looked into it more. this bug only happens when switching workspaces. one work around would be to make sure that you always have gedit on the same workspace as your browser. another workaround would be to make you you have the cursor where you are currently scrolled at. then when you switch to you browser an back, scroll one notch, making you in a random area in your text file, then push an arrow key, bringing you back to where your cursor was.
