Bug Description

I have a problem printing from my Ubuntu 12.10 installation.

Initially printing to a Minolta 283 bizhub hanged the printer for some reason.

I used the linux driver suppied by Konica Minolta. This driver worked fine with 11.10

Installed with cups adming with a network printer using:

socket://10.1.1.20:9100

Printer install and everything looks fine except when printing the printer freezes.

Same problem here, but with a Konica Minolta Bizhub C220. Worked fine with Lubuntu 12.04, but no luck with Ubuntu 12.10.

Install goes flawlessly but printer freezes when attempting to print.

I have same issue here with konica minotla bizhup c253 - printer hangs after sending any file to it - doesnt seem to matter whcih protocol I use.
CUPS says job finished and sent to printer. When printer hangs - cant ping printer - it drops off network ! - have to power cycle and reboot the printer.
Happens with print "test page" after adding netork printer.

Same here with Konica Minolta bizhub c220 and ubuntu quantal.
The printer worked fine with all previous ubuntu releases.
After a quantal fresh install the printer freezes and needs off/on cycle.
It happens sending any job to the printer (including test page and toner level inquiry).

Same Issue here, also on Ubuntu 12.10.

Printing normally or even the test page freezes the printer (just like other people before me wrote already)

Activated debugging with:
cupsctl LogLevel=debug
cupsctl LogDebugHistory=999999

Restarted cups.

Attached the error_log in /var/log/cups

I think this might be relevant:

In LibreOffice you can set the Print Format to Postscript. When i do that i can print to a Bizhub c360. With pdf set as Format it causes the Printer to freez up.

Thanks bart.

Working with workaround.

Open libreoffice go to printer setup -> Properties -> Device

Set Printer Language Type = Postscript (Level from printer)

Now seems to print.

I think this should still be fixed though but at least I can print with the workaround.

I can confirm Barts Workaround. Using the postscript option makes me print on a Bizhub C353.

I do not think that this is a duplicate of 1053443. There, the error log contains filter errors, while this is not the case here?

Attached my error log (erasing it, not fiddling with the webinterface)

I can confirm the solution of Brandon Bell in bug 1053443. So it is a duplicate.

Sorry
