The same is happening here. OO.org can not even run the latest DictOOo version downloaded from the web.

This wizard is starting a queer endlessly repeating cycle of
crash-recovery window, where it is showing the name of the document from
within which I tried the file->wizard->new dictionary, and the whole
address of the dictionary:
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/.../share/dict/ooo/DicOOo.sxw

And whatever option I click, 'disable macro' or 'enable macro' it is
going on and on ... doing recovery ... again starting it.

The only way out is 'cancel' the recovery, when it is asking me if I am
sure about cancelling the recovery and ending it.

The same problem with me (Kubuntu Feisty).
The version is:
openoffice.org 2.2.0-1ubuntu3

In my system there is only one file called DicOOo.sxw (in /usr/share/myspell/dicts), and if I try to open it, Openoffice.org crashes, the recovery starts... the same problem.

Bugs #109315, #109010 and #106108 seems to be the same as this one.

For me, oowriter is unusable without dictionaries.

I was unable to reproduce the crash with Ubuntu 7.04. I went to File - Wizards - Install new dictionaries - English (program). In the program I selected the Spanish (Mexico) dictionary.

Are you still able to reproduce the problem with up to date Ubuntu 7.04?

Thanks,

Chris Cheney

Hi Chris,

Yes, I've Ubuntu 7.04 up to date, and I'm still able to reproduce the problem.

I go to File, Wizards, Install new dictionaries and Openoffice crashes, I can't choose the dictionaries...

Thanks in advance.

It's still happening here (I don't remember any updates to OO.org since 7.04 was out, anyway). It happens on 3 different clean 7.04 installs on 2 different computers.

Going to "File > Wizards > Install new dictionaries" always crashes OpenOffice.

Do you need any more info? A log? A backtrace? Anything else?

Jose Luis: a workaround is install mypell which will patch OOo with the needed dictionaries, not as good as the other in my opinion (not so localized i mean) but at least it's usable, that's what i did.

(I will try the workaround.)

Low importance? in my opinion i think it's medium at least why would i need a OOo (writer at least) without dictionaries (although the workaround si possible), besides only ubuntu's version is broken, if you install OOo from their page this doesn't happen.
