Lost System Sound. I dual boot Win/Ubuntu....Windows sound is okay......12.04 LTS does not have sound. 10.04 LTS on same machine sound fine......HELP!!!

I have a ASUS Motherboard 12GB RAM, 1TB HD etc.
I have been using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS for a long time. A few weeks ago....I lost Sound on Ubuntu... It appeared to disappear after
I in installed a update....That's when I was aware the I had NO sound with 10.04 LTS. I dualboot with WIN7 Home Preium...
the Sound is fine in Windows 7......Both OS use the same hardware/
I thought that maybe if I Upgraded to 12.04 LTS I would get my sound back......WRONG!
So, Please give me some help in restoring sound to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.......
