Bug Description

Wyneken, as far as I can tell, does not yet have a Debian package in any Debian branch.

About Wyneken from the Wyneken website:

"Wyneken is a content-oriented text processor that makes your life as a student easier by allowing you to create and manage digital notebooks. Wyneken also allows you to create PDF presentations, letters, articles, and reports. Wyneken creates highly professional documents in PDF, DVI, HTML, RTF, and Ascii Text. Wyneken is not WYSIWYG but instead uses a very easy to learn markup which allows you to focus more on the content of your document rather than your document layout. It is built on top of LaTeX for professional looking documents.

Wyneken Notebooks are easy to create and edit. New chapters are started per each new day that you edit your notebook. The resulting product looks great too!

Wyneken makes it easy to add table of contents, bibliographies, and indexes to your documents. If you've been wanting the benefits of LaTeX or an advanced document system but don't want to deal with a steep learning curve, give wyneken a shot.

Technical Description:

Wyneken is a text processor that leverages several technologies to bring about a very professional looking document. Wyneken documents are written in a bbcode-style markup that gets converted into a LaTeX document. HeVeA, Latex2rtf, and latex-beamer are all used to bring you more functionality. In specific, HeVeA allows for the output of HTML and Ascii Text Files. Latex2RTF does the same for RTF files. latex-beamer is presentation software that sits under Wyneken Presentations."

I find it a strong tool in that it makes use of LaTeX, but does so in a way friendly to users who may not have the time to learn LaTeX markup.

I really hope someone packages this. The developer commented some time ago on this forum (note: 0.5 has since been released as a Development Version: http://www.99b.org/wyneken/?q=node/2 )
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=310371

"...In order to make a .deb, all it would need to do is check for the dependencies, and then copy usr/ from the tarball to the /usr directory of the system, so that usr/bin/wyneken now becomes /usr/bin/wyneken. After that, all that would need to be run is:

wyn --auto-config

The installation is not terribly difficult, though I imagine my somewhat complex scripts might make it seem otherwise.

I am not going to change this for 0.4, and it could be a little while before 0.5 comes out..."

Also, here is some other info:
