Bug Description

In the "Language" tab of the "Language Support" window it shows several variants of English, German, French, Norwegian, and Chinese. If I click "Install / Remove Languages" the checkboxes for English, German, French and Norwegian are all checked. All the Chinese variants are unchecked.

I discovered this while trying to simplify my language selection in an attempt to avoid a reproducible crash in jockey-gtk - I'm suspecting that this discrepancy could have something to do with it.

Thanks for your effort to improve Ubuntu by reporting these observations!

To get rid of the languages you don't need, uncheck them in the "Installed Languages" window and click "Apply Changes".

As regards Chinese, it's a known issue. You can prevent the Chinese item from showing up by opening a terminal window and run:

sudo locale-gen --purge

I don't think it's a duplicate - I never installed Chinese translations in the first place. I have absolutely no knowledge of that language.

`sudo locale-gen --purge` actually worked for me. Thanks Gunnar!
