Adam,

thanks for reporting the bug. Was this a network upgrade or an install from a CD. It sounds like a network upgrade. if there are any logs in /var/log/dist-upgrade could we have those as well please.

thanks,

Richard

I replied to the requests for more information via email, but I don't see the files here, here they are again. I am compressing them in case that was the problem.

Running postinst hook script /sbin/update-grub.
Your /etc/kernel-img.conf needs to be updated. Read grub's NEWS.Debian[1]
file and follow its instructions.

You shouldn't call /sbin/update-grub. Please call /usr/sbin/update-grub instead!

No GRUB directory found. To create a template run 'mkdir /boot/grub' first. To install grub, install it manually or try the 'grub-install' command. ### Warning, grub-install is used to change your MBR. ###

Thanks, that explains why the kernel was in /boot but grub wasn't updated. Any idea how this would have occurred from the upgrade? The preceding warnings don't seem serious enough to be the source and bot /boot and /boot/grub do exist on my system...

Marking this bug as "Won't Fix"

Both 6.10 and 7.10 are past their EOL[1], and upgrades are not supported from them to any currently supported platforms.
