Text disappears when typing text, not finalizing it and using effect

Bug Description
Pinta-1.
1. New image 300 x 300.
2. Click on Text tool and set font size to 40 (to better see the problem).
3. Type in some text like: test
4. Do not finalize the text (so don't click anywhere on canvas or don't press <Esc>).
5. Effect | Blur | Gaussian Blur.
6. Set Radius to 40 and click on OK button. And now problem appears, text disappears from canvas.
Note: You can use any effect, the problem is probably in finalize the text.
Work-around: Do one of the task from brackets in step 4 to finalize the text.

How also tested on Pinta's latest development on Ubuntu 12.04 and the same problem appears.
