Bug Description

Using nvida-current drivers the GeForce 6200 opengl performance is insanely slow. glxgears gives around 2-3 fps.

I've tried the open source drivers and they only give 120 fps.

What I wanted to add is that this bug appeared for me for the first time in driver version 295.40. I think this has something to do with the security fix that was applied. A workaround on my system is to install the driver version 173 (but this is not possible on 12.10). I must also add that the performance is so slow that scrolling this page itself in firefox is barely possible.

I use the GeForce 6200 Nvidia card on two Ubuntu computers (12.10 and 11.10). I use the nvidia-current driver. Seems to run fine on both machines for viewing HDTV. Your output seems to indicate that although nvidia-current is installed it's not activated.

I have re-installed the nvidia-current driver after trying the open
source driver and it again is super slow. glxgears gives about 3 fps.
I can watch video fine as well.

What does glxgears give you?
