ffdiaporama crash with Windows 8

Bug Description
Both versions crash frequently when I try and play a project after editing a shot. If I don't edit any shots and just use the default settings it does not crash.
Happens pretty much every time in both versions when I try and preview my edited project.
I have to save after every edit it seems or loose my work.
p.s. Love the options available but miss the ease of MS Photostory 3 which I replaced with ffDiaporama in Win 8.

I am new to using this program.
One completed project with 30 pics and one video file in it so far.
