Handling gmail misbehavior

Here is a series of messages when trying to view an external message from gmail IMAP server:

  Checking IMAP connection to server...
  missing CR before LF - IMAP connection may have a problem
  Unable to load message; Wrong type argument: integer-or-marker-p, nil

The IMAP buffer shows

  VM NOOP

  Process IMAP over SSL<1> finished

It looks like gmail did not respond. The session timed out somehow. But, VM seems to read its own message written into the buffer and get confused from it.

Seems to have been a transient problem. It is gone now.
