Bug Description

After browsing Files for some time I ended up in some folder and I want to copy its path (maybe I'd like to open it in Terminal or to send the path to struggling friend looking for something). There's no way to copy the path either by:
- clicking in breadcrumb navigation after all icons (-> addressbar appears) and pressing Ctrl+C
- right-clicking the (last or any other) item of breadcrumb navigation and selecting menu item Copy

Windows 7 allows both options, Nautilus offers the second one, Marlin/Pantheon-files offers neither of them.
Is there some other way I have missed?

This is definitely a bug, or rather the absence of a feature. I think we should have this, but elementary UX should look at how to implement this in a logical way.

Please raise the importance of this bug, even just a simple implementation of right clicking a file to copy its path would be fine.

Please raise the importance of the feature! It is a very important thing.

This issue is tackled by two of my branches... one allows you to click an empty space to get the entire text path. The other allows you to right-click any breadcrumb and copy the path.

This bug reproduce in pantheon-files 0.3.0.1. There are several options when you right click on path bar. But copy doesn't work. CLT + C doesn't work either.

Another issue, path bar's text becomes white when right click on it. So text are not visible, because background is white too. I'm not sure is it theme issue or File's.

Just tried Ctrl-C to copy the pathbar path in the latest Files (r2307) and it works OK. You must left click in the empty part of the pathbar first. This gives you the path in editable for (initially fully selected). Pressing Ctrl-C at this point copies the path the clipboard.

You can also use Ctrl-V to paste an existing path from the clipboard.

So this bug, as originally described appears to be fixed.

There is no direct way of copying the path of a file other than a folder at the moment but a separate bug would have to be raised for that.

Also, the context menu does not work properly to copy and paste paths - again a separate bug is needed (at has been created by matzipan)

You can also drag the path text out of the pathbar once it is in edit mode. However you cannot, at the moment, drop text into it.
