Bug Description
Installing fglrx or fglrx-updates succeeds, but I'm still stuck with only the radeon Xorg driver loaded (and fully functional).
Xorg.0.log shows that it can't load fglrx no matter what I do:
[ 1.816] (==) Matched fglrx as autoconfigured driver 0
[ 1.816] (==) Matched ati as autoconfigured driver 1
[ 1.816] (==) Matched fglrx as autoconfigured driver 2
[ 1.816] (==) Matched ati as autoconfigured driver 3
[ 1.816] (==) Matched vesa as autoconfigured driver 4
[ 1.816] (==) Matched modesetting as autoconfigured driver 5
[ 1.816] (==) Matched fbdev as autoconfigured driver 6
[ 1.816] (==) Assigned the driver to the xf86ConfigLayout
[ 1.816] (II) LoadModule: "fglrx"
[ 1.816] (WW) Warning, couldn't open module fglrx
[ 1.816] (II) UnloadModule: "fglrx"
[ 1.816] (II) Unloading fglrx
[ 1.816] (EE) Failed to load module "fglrx" (module does not exist, 0)
BOTH kernel modules are loaded:
$ lsmod | grep fgl
fglrx 4715211 0
$ lsmod | grep radeon
radeon 895653 3
ttm 83595 1 radeon
drm_kms_helper 46784 1 radeon
drm 275528 5 radeon,
i2c_algo_bit 13413 1 radeon
And yes, the package really is installed:
ii fglrx 2:9.000-0ubuntu3 amd64 Video driver for the AMD graphics accelerators
ii fglrx-amdcccle 2:9.000-0ubuntu3 amd64 Catalyst Control Center for the AMD graphics accelerators
But still, I find:
$ glxinfo | grep OpenGL
OpenGL vendor string: X.Org
OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on AMD CEDAR
OpenGL version string: 2.1 Mesa 9.0
OpenGL shading language version string: 1.30
OpenGL extensions:
Does this mean my Radeon HD 5450/6350 is no longer supported? If so, then why has there not been a single error or log message saying so?
