Crashes while reporting Unity bug

I'm trying to report a bug in Unity, but ubuntu-bug crashes when I try to do so. It's a UnicodeDecodeError in __AptDpkgPackageInfo.get_modified_files (packaging_impl.py line 256 in this version).

Based on that error I'd expect to find a weird character in /var/lib/dpkg/info/unity.md5sums, but I don't see it with the naked eye: http://paste.ubuntu.com/1367074/

The pastebin does not exist any more, but based on the existing information this very likely is a dupe of bug 1044014.
