Bug Description

Hello ,

I got problems with minecraft after upgrade to 12.10 .Minecraft can't go to fullscreen .After pressing F11 i see black screen for 3 seconds and after that minecraft is in window again ( no errors in terminal ). It works in fluxbox and gnome3 without problems so i suspect this is compiz/nvidia related bug .

I had this bug also in 12.04 after upgrade to nvidia 304.xx driver from stock 295.xx . Also tried upgrade to beta driver 310.14 but still the same issue .

Additional info : minecraft is written in java, fresh installed 12.10 without any ccsm tweaks .

Please let me know if you need additional info

Thanks

Hello Daniel,

Thanks for your time. Turning on "Unredirect Fullscreen Windows" didn't fix the issue .

I think it's compiz issue because it works in gnome classic ( no effects ) , gnome-shell and fluxbox and didn't works in Unity and gnome classic ( compiz )

Please let me know if you need more details,

Hi Daniel, thanks for your respond.

I already tried this before the publication of this bug.
Unfortunatelly this method doesn't work for me. 😩

I've hope that somebody will find the problem and fix it 😉

Hello Matthias ,

Nope it didn't help .I don't have problems with fullscreen in any other apps .I will try to find another java app to see if it's only java releated.

I'm using Ubuntu 13.04 and this bug affects me. Sometimes it works and goes fullscreen, but most of the times it won't. I'd say the ratio is about 1:2.

I still need 2.5 tries. But it got better. This doesn't seem to be a compiz bug though. I know of no other app having problems to go fullscreen.

I'd like to re-open this bug. This still doesn't work and id *does* seem to be a problem with Unity. I'm on 13.10 with the latest Orcacle Java and the latest Minecraft build. Running it through compiz (i.e. Unity) has the fullscreen issue. Running Minecraft in Gnome Shell our without any DE at all (through xinit) works as it should.

Minecraft is (still) a popular game that works correctly everywhere except under Unity/Compiz.

Im experiencing this as well, and it used to be only unity (compiz) that had this issue so I had switched to gnome shell and that fixed it for me, but recently on 14.04 ubuntu gnome it is starting to have the same issue as compiz.

I can confirm that this is not an issue in unity on my friends acer aspire ultrabook with intel hd 4000 graphics, as well as my old hp with integraded intel graphics. Both using SNA 2D acceleration, and both are running Ubuntu 14.04 with unity.

I found a fully working workaround! By installing the Optifine mod you can choose how the game is going to go into fullscreen mode. To do so install the mod go to options>video settings>Other and set fullscreen mode to the desired resolution. Have fun!

I confirm this bug, using gnome-shell in Ubuntu-GNOME 14.04. I found a simple workaround though: just launch the display properties from gnome control center and change the resolution, then change it back to the normal resolution. Now, if you press F11, minecraft should go fullscreen.
