tzdata shows wrong date and no possibility to change it

Bug Description

On Ubuntu 12.10, tzdata says the date is 2005. i wanted to changed it but it's not possible to change it. i tried to reinstall and reconfigure tzdata but it didn't work

tzdata isn't responsible for setting the date. Something like ntpdate, or setting it manually using the clock applet on the top right of your desktop would help.
