Inscape crashes while applying render effect on PDF imported image

Steps to reproduce:
1. open or import some pdf or ps/eps image (i'll attach example file )
2. apply some render effect (e.g. printing marks)
3. Inkscape applies effect but then crashes immediately

Error: "Inkscape encountered an internal error and will close now"

Inkscape ver.: inkscape-0.48.3.1-1.fc17.x86_64 (Fedora 17, 64bit)

Unfortunately, Inkscape 0.48.3.1 has a rather annoying regression with regard to running extensions with certain documents.
