Screen doesn not lock (until you do it manually once)

Bug Description

The screen does not lock even though
- the "lock" switch is activated in the "brightness and locking" screen
- "lock screen after" is set to "screen turns off"
- and "ask for my password..." is checked

This problem can be fixed by :
- activating manually the lock screen once (ctrl + alt + L)
- or typing "nohup gnome-screensaver &" in a terminal

so I think the problem is that gnome-screensaver does not start automatically or crashes when it does.

Ubuntu 12.10
gnome-screensaver 3.6.0-0ubuntu2

I added "gnome-screensaver" to the startup programs ; this solved the problem. But it should be done by default.

Gnome-screensaver should be started by default. I'm not sure why it wasn't for you. I'm closing this bug, since you've figured out the problem you were having.

Please feel free to reopen it if you can reliably reproduce this issue in a default installation.
