Bug Description

Binary package hint: adept

As far as I know, it is safe to halt (and later resume) a distribution upgrade while it is still in the process of downloading the files and has not yet started installing them. However, the Kubuntu Edgy to Feisty upgrader does not offer any way of suspending the process once it has been started. This might be a reasonable thing to do, as the download can potentially take several hours (and possibly considerably longer than the original estimate), and the user may need to switch off their system, for whatever reason, before the end of that time.

By the way, take this as a suggestion for the Feisty to Gutsy upgrader. There is probably not much point in implementing it for the Edgy to Feisty upgrader now.

Hi, thanks for your report! The idea is very nice, but unfortunately it doesn't belong here since it's not a bug. Reports like these should be filed as a feature specification. Please check first if there already is a specification covering your idea (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+specs), and eventually write a specification yourself (more information on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FeatureSpecifications). Have a nice Feisty day!
