Bug Description

Seems for me the same bug like #414244:

Working here with

Xubuntu 12.04.1
Linux xubuntu2 3.2.0-32-generic #51-Ubuntu SMP Wed Sep 26 21:33:09 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Boinc 7.0.27+dfsg-5ubuntu0.12.04.1

The ppa package from

http://ppa.launchpad.net/pkg-boinc/ppa/ubuntu

is also active, but the Ubuntu-Package is newer/version higher.

Solution:

sudo /etc/init.d/boinc-client restart

.

Hardware:
AMD Radeon HD 6670

I had today a very strange experience with the card, GPU processing allowed.

I got some beta WUs for AMD CPU and GPU and they work withou problems.
After using the PC (i works normally for itself) i got this error:

ERROR: VerifyGPU.cpp:114 Device not found.

for more infos:
https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/viewResultErrorLog.do?resultId=1171628738

After restarting the BOINC client it works without problems...

.

So your version has not the solution but works for ONE workunit!

This is very annoying and should handled with an high priority IMHO (atm: undecided)

BTW: Would it accelerated the process/development if somebody post this in the BOINC forum?
Or are the BOINC people have an eye on Launchpad also?

Ok could you please try boinc from berkeley website?

I also added David Anderson to this bug mail, maybe he has better ideas to troubleshoot this problem

I moved to Ubuntu 12.10 (using xfce) so 12.04 is no longer applicable to me!
AFAIK the boinc from the berkeley website is not oriented toward
running as user 'boinc' so there might be issues transitioning
from the Ubuntu release version to the berkeley version.

On a recent reboot I found my nvidia 560 TI unrecognized by boinc. Powered
down, reseated the card and its power lines and on reboot it was recognized.

Ok, a short update from my site:

The problem with the
ERROR: VerifyGPU.cpp:114 Device not found.
seems to be a problem of the WUs/HCC project/WCG.

But it remains - as the title says - the unfound GPU...
