Bug Description

Hi, I own a Plustek OpticSlim M12.
For a whole year I thought it was broken, as I obtained very blurred and grey scanned pages.
Then this evening I installed xsane, discovered the advanced settings, inserted the special calibration sheet, pushed the "calibrate" button... and magically SimpleScan started producing perfectly scanned pages.

I suggest introducing such calibration ability in SimpleScan, too.

Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
Emanuele

I would like to add myself to the list of people that are affected by this. I own an old Canon N670U scanner which I use in Ubuntu, Linux Mint, and Windows 10 (using VueScan; a utility that was NOT free nor open source). However, in both Ubuntu and Linux Mint (which relies on Ubuntu's repository/repositories, if I'm not mistaken), when I use Simple-Scan to scan photos, the resulting scans have very poor color accuracy. I noticed that the only difference between Simple-Scan, the other utility i was using (VueScan), and Canon's own proprietary software was that VueScan and Canon's software both trigger a calibration routine that ensures that my scanner is scanning colors as correctly as possible. As of September 2018, my scanner is at least 15-20 years old, but is kept very clean and has no degraded moving parts nor a busted bulb. I realize that VueScan can also be used in Linux, but I would like scanner calibration to be added to this utility, if not for myself, then at least for the sake of other users who also have older scanners but my not want to pay extra money for a 3rd party utility or even larger amounts of money for a whole new scanner. Please consider adding this feature! Thank you!
