Hi Corentin,

The best option right now would be to re-download it. It's possible you got a partial download while we were updating the image. Simply say "No" when it asks to re-use the same download. If this doesn't work, please reopen the bug. Thanks for taking the time to log this bug to help improve Ubuntu on the Nexus 7!

Got a temporary solution: Download the files with the Installer, and if the error message occurs, close the installer. Then open the Download dir in the terminal with "cd ~\>>Download Dir here<<\UbuntuNexus7" . Then execute "sha256sum rootfs.img" (I do not remember the exact filename) and replace the code you get with the code in the text file in the folder. But be aware that if the download is really corrupted it can be dangerous.. But it worked for me. I assume they just didn't update the sha-checksum on the server. Then open up the installer again and agree to the re-use popup.

Marking this as fix committed for now but there was a server side cache issue and we also updated the installer logic to be a bit smarter about dealing with potential cache issues. Version 1.5 of the installer is now published:

https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-nexus7/+archive/ubuntu-nexus7-installer

Please let me know if you see the same checksum failures after this update.

Checked the new installer -- it either downloads the correct images, or checks that they are up-to-date. I could not reproduce the issue (but, then, I had already checked that '--no-cache' and '-N' would do the trick).

The problem seems to be the SHA256SUMS file. The checksums match, so all you need to do is open the downloaded SHA256SUMS file in a text editor, and replace all the * characters with space characters, and erase the two entries for files that were not downloaded with the package. That should fix the issue (at least it did for me). Hope that helps!

Source: I ran sha256sum checksums on both files (raring-preinstalled-desktop-armhf+nexus7.bootimg and raring-preinstalled-desktop-armhf+nexus7.img.gz) and they match what's in the file SHA256SUMS, minus the * characters, so I just erased the * characters, and all other lines after the first two. It worked, so it's likely a parsing error in the installer, possibly to do with the * characters, and possibly to do with the lines for checksums for files that were not included in the download.
