Unable to upgrade the "ubuntu-desktop" package

After running the software updater, the user is asked to run a partial upgrade. Then, after some time, it fails due to the inability to upgrade the "ubuntu-desktop" package.

It looks to me like edubuntu-desktop may be missing from the list of metapkgs:

Actually edubuntu-desktop depends on ubuntu-desktop so that is not an issue. What version or flavor of Ubuntu do you have installed?

The reporter is running precise and it looks like they may have some PPA versions of unity packages installed which would cause an issue.
