Bug Description

I have a warning icon next to my me-menu since today, telling me to report a bug against update-manager.
I think this is an apt bug, but I am just following the instructions on screen and add apt afterwards.

I will translate the error message to english:

--
A critical error occured while initializing the packageinformation.
Please report a bug against »update-manager« and attach the following error message:
E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/de.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_quantal-updates_main_i18n_Translation-en, E:The file could not be opened or parsed correctly.

original message:

I would like to provide more information (using apport) but I get an error, stating that the problem cannot be submitted. I will attach the file which is part of the error message. I could not find another log file which shows any information about the problem (even /var/log/apt does not contain any interesting files) :/

This issue happens when you have tried to update your package information when you are a network that didn't return the right files. This issue can be cleaned up by using the following commands in a terminal:

1.) sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/*
2.) sudo apt-get update
