Bug Description

Hi

If I attempt to create a custom mount point for a removable drive as follows, and enter the full path I want the drive mounted at (e.g. "/media/compactflash") this input is accepted, but then the drive canot be mounted.

As I have discovered, what is required is simply the last part of the mount point location (e.g. "compactflash" in this case), but this is not clear from the properties dialogue and no validation is done on the input.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Insert removable disk
2. Right click on disk icon on desktop, select properties
3. In drive tab, under "Mount Point" add a full directory, e.g. "/media/compactflash")
4. Click close
5. Right click and eject disk
6. Re-insert disk

Result:

error: "moint_point cannot contain the following characters: newline, G_DIR_SEPARATOR (usually /)"

Expected behaviour:

properties dialogue should have validated input and rejected invalid mountpoint

Thanks
Matthew

This old bug is from a daily build pre-Feisty. Is it still an issue, or can we close this?

The problem is that what you can insert in the "mount point" field is not a full path. You should type the name of the folder inside "/media/" where the partition will be mounted. It works if you just type this name. I think this is a right behavior but the "Mount Point" text label should be different, because it suggests a full path mount point.
