Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus-open-terminal

I installed the package, nothing is showing up. I tried restarting the computer to be sure, I don't understand why I can't get anything.. Sorry, I'm really not sure where to even start debugging this. All I know is that the package is installed, and my right-click menu in nautilus (whether I click on a file, folder, or whitespace) shows nothing new.

Any suggestions?

Hi. Thanks for the bug report. What version of Ubuntu are you running?

Could you paste here the result of the command below (in a terminal):
apt-cache policy nautilus-open-terminal

You can try the nautilus menu (not popup menu, but the main menu) File->Open in a terminal

Changed in nautilus-open-terminal:
status: Unconfirmed → Needs Info

I had the same problem and restarting nautilus using the command 'nautilus -q' solved the problem. This command should be run automatically.

I am using ubuntu hardy. I installed the package using Synaptic Package Manager.

I just installed this using synaptic, and had the same problem: right after installation, nothing happened, no menu item anywhere. I did have a nautilus window open during installation though, but closing it and restarting nautilus had no effect. Rebooting worked for me, I didnt try the -q command above.

One other thing: The menu item doesnt appear on the side pane when using tree or places. Is there any way to add that?

Cheers.

I don't think it should be done automatically. There may be others logged into the system who don't want to be interrupted. Perhaps something like the icon that appears for Firefox saying that a restart is required might be good.

Same bug here with Jaunty. I installed the package using the command line and couldn't get the menu right after.

Please find below the output of apt-cache :

$ apt-cache policy nautilus-open-terminal
nautilus-open-terminal:
  Installed: 0.9-3ubuntu1
  Candidate: 0.9-3ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 0.9-3ubuntu1 0
        500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/universe Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Running 'nautilus -q' did the trick.

Anyway, something is wrong here : if an extra action is required after the installation, the user should at least be notified.

Better, it should just work right after the install, like any other package (or ask for something in an interactive way).
