Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-driver-ati

Feisty Live CD (Release Candidate) incorrectly detects my screen as 1024x768, when is can support 1280x1024. This is with the Xorg-ATI driver on Radeon RV100 QY [Radeon 7000/VE]

When run in 'safe mode' the full screen resolution of 1280x1024 is detected with VESA.

Thanks, yes others have reported this exact same issue; we're tracking it in bug #49827, and hope to have a better solution for Gutsy.

Meanwhile, to work around it, manually edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf, make sure it lists the correct hsync and vertrefresh rates for your monitor, and specify the desired resolutions on the Mode line.
