Bug Description

Binary package hint: debian-installer

This is definitely wishlist material. The progress bar on debian-installer stops second time around at 6% there it stays until the installer hits 23%. a lot of people might switch off as nothing seems to be happening and reboot the machine.

This happen on feisty alternative and on netboot (more noticeable on netboot though). I think either a smoother scrolling bar or a brief warning that the install progress bar might freeze for the next release.

Which progress bar (for example, what text is displayed at the top)? d-i has lots of them.

This is where I'm not so hot (sorry). Basically the base is installed then the bar resets for the ubuntu install at this time it gets to 6% and sits there. If you need a more definite answer I can run an install on a spare machine I have and note down any details for you. Before I do that though if you could let me know exactly what it is you need so I know what to look for. Many thanks.

We are wondering if this is still an issue. Can you try it with the latest Ubuntu version? Thanks in advance.

I think this is essentially the same problem that we eventually fixed as bug 290234.
