gm-notify has not yet been ported to the new libmessaging-menu API in 12.10 (well, there is a test build in my ppa but nothing in the main repositories). This progress is being tracked in bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gm-notify/+bug/1040259 , so I am going to mark this report as a duplicate of that one.
