Bug Description
Binary package hint: pulseaudio
Running up to date feisty i386 on an Athlon XP 1800+ with an add-in ES1371 PCI soundcard. PulseAudio is outputting to the sound-card through ALSA.
I launch audacity like this:
padsp audacity /usr/share/
but when I try to play the sound file, I get a dialogue box:
"Error while opening sound device. Please check the output device settings and the project sample rate"
In the terminal window I see:
Expression 'ioctl( *odev, SNDCTL_
Expression 'OpenDevices( idevName, odevName, &idev, &odev )' failed in 'src/hostapi/
Expression 'PaOssStream_

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug has been fixed in the latest development version of Ubuntu - the Gutsy Gibbon.
A backport request has been made to fix this in feisty.
